A MESSAGE FROM PFLAG SDC PRESIDENT NANCY COLBERT

Friend, I try to focus on the many people who are fighting for and supporting our country and all people during these unprecedented times. But I have to admit that at times I am completely overwhelmed. Every day there’s more discouraging news from this administration and its supporters.

Many of you probably feel the same way. I want to remind you (and myself) that we need to support each other. Sometimes we just need to stop for a minute and then pick ourselves up and keep going.

I know I feel a little better when I am doing something. We can write letters to our legislators, sign petitions, attend protests and marches, attend school board meetings, and donate our time and money to the causes that mean the most to us.

Margaret Mead said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. It’s the only thing that ever has.”

Please get involved as much as you can. Donate, join, and volunteer. Our democracy is at stake.

To help keep PFLAG SDC strong, we are rebuilding our board to meet community needs. We need people skilled in publicity, community organizing, media, health care, public speaking, education, bookkeeping, or fundraising. Please send any recommendations to admin@pflagsdc.org.
