Our History

All PFLAG members are indebted to PFLAG founder, Jeanne Manford. She started advocating for us in 1973 and the torch has been passed. We keep her in mind with one of our PFLAG mottos: Leading with Love.

PFLAG is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents, families, and allies. With over 400 chapters and supporters crossing multiple generations of families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural communities across America, PFLAG is committed to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed.

The PFLAG San Diego County chapter was founded by Lillian and Hy Rubin in 1982 and started with 15 members. We’ve come a long way!

Tax Deductible

PFLAG SDC is a 501(c)3 charitable organization making your donations tax-deductible. Under IRS guidelines, the full amount of any gift and/or membership is deductible as a charitable contribution. Upon request, written documentation of donations will be provided for tax-related purposes.
